As streetcars gave way to Studebakers, Dr. George Moss decided to pave his own way, opening Moss Optical at 18 South 7th Street. George’s sons, Robert and Anthony, became opticians and joined the business.
Steady growth prompted a move to a larger space a couple doors down in 1942. Word of the quality and service of this practice traveled fast, and soon entire families were driving in from greater Minnesota to see “Dr. George.” Roads and cars were nothing like they are today, so this was a true testimony to loyalty.
